The 1.8/1.9/2.1 previously impossible solo Extreme Demon known as Silent clubstep was created, hack-verified, and released by Sailent. It is one of the most well-known levels in Geometry Dash history since the previous version of it was widely regarded by players as being insurmountably difficult. It is most likely influenced by Silent Club given its name and designation as a “Silent” level.
For a variety of reasons, the original version was widely regarded as being impossible. Due of its inconsistent timings and fixed-hitbox straight flying section, the pre-drop prohibited players from making any substantial advancements. After the duel, there are eight nearly frame-perfect timings in the small cube section, which features uneven speed fluctuations. The “8 Jumps of Hell” were these eight jumps, which gave rise to well-liked difficulty levels like final: destination.
In 2020, Silent clubstep received an upgrade that simplified numerous time challenges and fixed gameplay sections that had been unplayable as a result of Update 2.1’s physics. After more than 138,000 attempts, paqoe confirmed and published this version on July 17, 2022.
2.1 Fix and Update
Sailent communicated with IcEDCave over Discord, a very talented Canadian player who had achieved amazing runs on Unnerfed Silent clubstep. They talked about the challenges Silent Clubstep experienced with orb masking, different skips, and physics concerns brought on by physics modifications in 2.0, which mostly affected vertical ship movement. In addition to updating the level to address these issues, Sailent made minor changes to the level to make it less challenging.
The nerfs involve altering timings such that they are possible at 60 FPS and nerfing other timings that are already possible. The “lights-out” areas were also made more visible, and the first ship was nerfed so that players could pass it for better consistency.
A few months after the initial 2.1 update, the level received a second update. The only changes made in this new version were to the décor and the use of toggle triggers to imitate orb masking in the ball that was previously using orb masking because proper orb masking is no longer functional due to game changes.
Gameplay
After a challenging dual cube with more precise jumps and a mirror portal, the level’s tough cube segment with two tight timings and three-block wide orb spam follows. Following this comes a very tight ship section that is said to be the main challenge to passing the level because it is inconsistent even with practice. It is followed by a cube with four precise jumps, a two-block wide spam portion, more precise timings with poor vision, and portals with constant speed, gravity, and mirrors.
The level’s decline then begins, with an insanely challenging ship segment that calls for awkward maneuvers, a mirror portal, and curved straight flight. A brief, nearly automatic cube that requires only one simple input but may also be passed by holding through the cube follows the ship. Following this is a rather simple piece that consists of a ball part that makes use of toggle triggers to emulate an old trick called “orb masking,” which included positioning several orbs in the same location to generate precise timing. However, due to changes in the game’s physics, orb masking is no longer possible.
The next section features a memory-based UFO with mirror, size, gravity, and speed portals. Then, flying diagonally in poor sight is necessary to reach a dark ship component. After a memory-based cube part and a pretty tight ball part, there is another little pause before an incredibly challenging duel. A cube and a ball are the opponents in the dual, and they both must execute precise timings such quintuple spike jumps and one space wide ball gaps at triple speed. Although it becomes more reliable with repetition, this dual is regarded as the most difficult element of the level in the game’s upgraded edition.
Following this is a short ship segment, a memory-based cube maze, and the level’s final eight jumps, all of which are exceedingly tight and frame-perfect on 60 frames per second.
