Screen Rant can exclusively present a clip from the new Western thriller Murder at Yellowstone City, which arrives in theaters on June 24 from RLJE Films and is set to be available simultaneously on Digital and On Demand. The new movie boasts a stacked cast, from screen legend Gabriel Byrne to The Expanse’s Thomas Jane, the It franchise’s Isaiah Mustafa, Pitch Perfect’s Anna Camp, Lucifer’s Aimee Garcia and much more.
Richard Gray and written by Eric Belgau, Murder at Yellowstone City follows a former slave named Cicero (Mustafa) who is accused of murdering a prospector that struck gold. Soldier-turned-lawman Sherrif Ambrose (Byrne) is determined to see him pay for his supposed crime, but passionate missionary Alice (Camp) convinces her former outlaw husband Thaddeus (Jane) that the prisoner is innocent. Together, they must see justice done in town before Ambrose can drag them all down the route of bloodshed and vengeance. Thaddeus tries to convince the Sheriff that he’s chasing down an innocent man, it’s clear that Cicero is hiding out in the couple’s home, waiting for the air to clear. It’s equally clear that Sheriff Ambrose doesn’t really care whether or not Cicero is innocent, he just wants to prove that he has control over a town that’s quickly slipping from out of his grasp.
Both the poster, which can be viewed below, and the recently released trailer give off the impression of one man against an unjust world, which fits the vengeance versus justice narrative that Murder at Yellowstone City is serving up. Whether Thaddeus and his wife Alice are successful in protecting Cicero from the bloodthirsty sheriff, or their faith turns out to be misplaced, it’s clear the town is a powder keg ready to explode and audiences will get a thrill out of watching it go down.
RLJE Films has released several high stakes, tension-filled projects this year. Most recently there was action thriller White Elephant, which starred Bruce Willis and John Malkovich, as well as Last Looks, an American-British mystery thriller that starred Charlie Hunnam, Mel Gibson and Morena Baccarin. And last but not least, there was the fabulous sci-fi thriller Dual, starring Karen Gillan, Theo James and Aaron Paul, which arrived in April. Murder at Yellowstone City has a runtime of 126 minutes and is not yet rated.
